The medical school interview season is not the time to get with this Mohawk experiment you always wanted. Keep clean and simple the hair. Men with long hair must not cut it all down, just keep it clean and from your face. The same rules apply to women.
As for ornament, earrings in men are always a point of controversy. If your earring is an important part of who you are, let it in. But if it is only a piece of jewelry that I would take it out. Body piercing show (nose ring, tongue ring, eyebrow ring, and so on) fall under the same general guidelines as earrings. Wear it if it is a large part of who you are. Lose it for a day, if it is not.
